‘All clear’ on red tide is not so clear

ENGLEWOOD — Charter captain Chris ONeill remains frustrated with mixed messages about red tide and the toll it’s taking on local beaches and tourism.

“The dead fish are gone,” said ONeill, owner- captain at Tail Chaser Charter Services of Placida. “There’s extremely high levels of hidden bacteria in the water that’s not being talked about that can cause respiratory problems.
