SARASOTA COUNTY — A regional traffic light management system that aims to improve the flow of vehicle traffic and increase roadway safety on U.S. 41 and larger corridors is in the process of making its way to the South County area.
The synchronized light system is known as Advanced Traffic Management System, or ATMS, and is being installed throughout the unincorporated and incorporated areas of Sarasota County. The system is part of a regional network that includes Manatee County and the cities of Sarasota and Bradenton as signatories of a 2005 agreement.
