PORT CHARLOTTE — The Sheriff’s Office’s Economic Crimes Unit is asking for assistance in identifying two women who were involved in passing a fraudulent check on Friday. At about 8:40 p.m., two younger women went into the Best Buy store at 18700 Veterans Blvd. in Port Charlotte. One of the women purchased a Bluetooth speaker pod with what turned out to be a fraudulent $100 American Express Traveler’s Check. She left with the speaker and about $57 in cash in change. The woman who presented the check is pictured in the green hoodie.

Anyone with information on the identity of either of these women is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101 (ask for Economic Crimes), or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
