NORTH PORT — The city of North Port’s decision to move the Poinsettia Festival to a new location and split the Poinsettia Parade into an entirely different event has sparked controversy.
North Port city commissioners unanimously approved the splitting of the parade and festival into two separate events on Monday. Per their decision, the Poinsettia Festival will take place Dec. 5 in front of North Port City Hall, off Sumter Boulevard. Traditionally, the festival, featuring tons of snow for children to play in, is held immediately following the parade.
