It all started back in 1966 when Jack Price, executive director of the Charlotte County Foundation, saw the need to provide lifelong learning opportunities for adults in the county.
The foundation brokered a grant to fund the start-up of a small group of volunteers called Learning in Retirement. The initial cadre of tutors included community veterans Vernon Peeples and Lindsay Williams.
