LAKELAND — A day after agreeing to a new 10-year, $292 million contract, Detroit star Miguel Cabrera was the talk of the park before the Tigers played host to Tampa Bay at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The deal was the largest signed by an athlete in any sport, surpassing Alex Rodriguez’s 10-year, $275 million deal in 2007.
