SARASOTA COUNTY — A clinical psychologist testified for over three hours Thursday that he believes Michael W. Rice experienced a lifetime worth of mental health issues so severe, that the shooting death of Philippe Nahon was almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Rice, 25, is charged with first-degree murder in the May 26, 2012, shooting of Nahon at Bentley’s Hotel in Osprey, an event that Rice later told authorities he could not fully remember.
