NORTH PORT — City commissioners today will narrow a field of nearly 30 candidates for a proposed in-house city attorney.
The decision to search for in-house counsel came after a 4-1 vote in January; Commissioner Tom Jones cast the dissenting vote. The commission’s approval to move forward with a professional search for the post came after months of discussion and delegation. In a workshop in late 2013, the board discussed the future of legal counsel for the city, with City Attorney Rob Robinson’s contract expiring on Sept. 30.
