Providentially, our Florida move in August 1988 initiated my return to the church of my baptism in 1990. I’d attended the Methodist church through the age of 15, when I “fell from grace.” God mended my spiritual vessel’s cracks at my ordination in Florida’s United Methodist Church in June 2004.

As Advent season winds down and Epiphany rounds the corner, I’m reviewing the carol, “We Three Kings of Orient Are.” The lyrics and music were written in 1857 by Episcopal composer, the Rev. John Henry Hopkins Jr. It first was printed in his 1863, “Carols, Hymns and Song.”
