Our landscapes are often a tapestry of turf, broadleaf ornamentals, palms, perennials and annuals hopefully woven together into a pleasing pattern.
While many gardeners are acutely familiar with St. Augustine and bahia grass, many desirable “ornamental grasses” often remain an untapped resource for the landscape. These grasses are not mowed but allowed to fulfill their full height, often developing interesting and colorful flower heads. You see more and more ornamental grass being used in landscapes and garden centers.
