PUNTA GORDA — Punta Gorda firefighter John Briggs doesn’t embrace leaving his family to work Christmas Day, but the father of four said it’s just necessary.

“No one wants to have to call 911 on Christmas,” Briggs said. “So when they do, it’s normally pretty serious.”
