A Port Charlotte man was killed Sunday when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson and collided with another motorcycle on Kings Highway in DeSoto County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The wreck happened at 1:17 p.m. near Southwest Peace River Street. Timothy Wayne Dudley, 46, was riding his 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King as part of a group when he reportedly tried to take the lead and cut in front of two other motorcycles. He lost control of the bike, which crashed onto its left side and traveled into the path of the one of the other motorcycles, a 2007 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic ridden by Timothy William Schneider, 58, of Port Charlotte, and passenger Rosemary Aresta, 49, of Punta Gorda. Schneider tried but failed to avoid a collision and his bike also crashed onto its left side, a report stated. All three were airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital. Dudley was later declared dead. Schneider suffered serious injuries, and Aresta is in critical condition, according to the FHP. The wreck is still under investigation.
