MURDOCK — The cleanup of the contaminated Sunshine Lake/Sunrise Waterway will cost substantially more than estimated, and will take longer to complete, Charlotte County commissioners learned Wednesday.
An additional $1.1 million will be needed for the cleanup project, originally tabbed at $2.5 million. The extra expense, which will be considered at next week’s commission meeting, is due to the thick layer of blue-green algae found in Sunshine Lake and the Sunrise Waterway.
