CHARLOTTE COUNTY — Most people are aware of being able to call 911 for an emergency situation, but how many people know that Charlotte County E911 has its own website? In January, as part of its public education outreach efforts, Charlotte County E911 launched its new website — http://e911.ccso.org/ — to provide the public with information on relevant 911-related topics. There is a link to the website on the Sheriff’s Office’s public website in the lower left side of the page.
A lot of what happens in the 911 world occurs behind the scenes. So this new website offers the public the opportunity to learn about activities within the E911 Center that are often rarely heard about. Readers can find out about the people staffing the centers, the technologies being utilized, and public outreach events that are scheduled. There is even a section for children to learn more about the proper use of the E911 system. Every month readers should find a new blog posting on the site, discussing various 911-related topics. Most of the individual pages offer the readers an input form to add comments on the topics. This is a relatively new website, so it is still being developed. Check out the site to see what you think. If there is a relevant topic you think should be discussed, feel free to submit the suggestion on one of the website input forms.
