ENGLEWOOD — The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit will be offering a Safe Boaters class next month that is free to the public. The class is scheduled for April 16 at Lemon Bay High School in Classroom 206. The class begins at 5 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. Anyone attending can park in the rear of the school and enter the building that says “Gym Entrance” above the door.
Members of the Marine Patrol Unit will discuss boating regulations and safe handling of various size boats. There will be a test at the end of the four-hour class which will qualify those who pass the test for a Safe Boater’s ID card. The card is issued by the State of Florida and will be sent out in a few weeks after the class. Since the class is being offered free to the public, there is no need to register. Just show up and learn more about how to more safely enjoy boating in the waters in Charlotte County.
