SOUTHWEST FLORIDA — The number of distressed homes plunged further in March throughout the region’s housing market, ushering in a demand for new-home construction.
The Charlotte County Clerk of Courts reported 58 foreclosure filings in March, down from 79 the previous month, marking a 27 percent fall-off. In Sarasota County, there were 163 new foreclosures last month, a 10 percent reduction from 182 in February, according to the Sarasota County Clerk of Courts.
