Organizers of the first-ever Charlotte Harbor Super Boat Grand Prix are hoping the roar of engines and the cheers of the spectators will become a sound heard on Manasota Key every year.

And for this year’s inaugural event to be dubbed a success, the race would have to generate enough money to cover costs for 2015, said Jerry York, president of the Charlotte Harbor Super Boat Grand Prix.
