PUNTA GORDA — The second annual Pride Fest scheduled for today — Saturday — downtown has been postponed due to inclement weather. However organizers are not letting the rain ruin their Pride. The event now is scheduled for Sunday at Laishley Park, starting at noon, said Carrie Egbert, president of Charlotte County Pride. The walk from Gilchrist Park to Laishley that had been set to precede today’s event will not take place Sunday.

Charlotte County Pride Inc. is a Port Charlotte-based nonprofit organization whose goal is “to unite the LGBTQ Community though the challenge that diversity is the true backbone of community,” according to its website. Numerous activities were planned for today’s event. Egbert was unsure Saturday afternoon as to what acts could be rescheduled for Sunday. She did encourage everyone to come and support the event. “We want to see everyone,” she said.
