The roll-out of Florida’s privatization of its Medicaid program arrived in Charlotte and Sarasota counties on June 1. However, the transition to managed care plans in a system as large and complex as Medicaid does not come without its own set of ailments.
At the Post-Legislative Luncheon in Port Charlotte earlier this month, state Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fort Myers, talked about dealing with the “unintended consequences” that have surfaced in areas where the Statewide Managed Medical Assistance program already is in place.
