District weighs elementary changes

Charlotte County Schools Superintendent Doug Whittaker hopes a new agreement will result in the return of guidance counselors and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) teachers to the district’s elementary schools and the elimination of block scheduling at the county’s four middle schools.

The proposed teachers’ contract, if approved, would also result in the hiring of eight new middle school teachers as well, Whittaker said.
