PGPD: Armed robber strikes area bank
PUNTA GORDA — Authorities were investigating a suspected armed robbery at a local bank late Friday afternoon.
Around 4:30 p.m., a white man wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses walked into the Bank of America at 100 Madrid Blvd. — just off U.S. 41, north of Burnt Store Road — with an apparent firearm in his hand, according to Punta Gorda Police spokesman Capt. Tom Lewis. The man took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank on foot heading south, he added.
