PUNTA GORDA — A young man, smaller than all his peers but proudly sporting the light blue team jersey, dribbles the ball down the court. He steps up to the basket, and promptly shoots an air ball.

On another day, in virtually any other game, the opposing team reclaims the ball and moves back toward the other side of the court.
