Charles William Raby Jr., 52, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at his residence.
He was born April 19, 1961, in Orlando, Fla., and moved to the area in 1970 from Venice, Fla.
As a commercial fisherman and blue crabber, Charles was a part of the local fishing community for 36 years. He was of the Christian faith.
Charles is survived by his wife, Linda of Punta Gorda; sons, Craig and Bryon of Punta Gorda; grandson, Connor of Englewood, Fla.; mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Raby of Punta Gorda; sisters, Joyce (Thomas) Tyrell of Sarasota, Fla., Jeane and Lynne, both of North Port, Fla., and Deborah of Punta Gorda; brother, Christopher of Punta Gorda; and nephews, Corey and Punta Gorda, and Curt of North Port. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Annie May Raby; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Elizabeth Silcox; and father, Charles William Raby Sr.
A memorial service for Charles will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda, 459 Gill St., Punta Gorda.
