She was born May 14, 1924, in Indiana, to Ora O. and Lilly Maude (nee Turner) Baber.

Raised in Boone County, Jackie attended schools in Whitestown, Ind., and graduated from Lebanon High School. June 21, 1941, she was married to Lloyd George Smith. Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, mother, and proud grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending their various activities. Jackie also enjoyed hosting her grandchildren and their friends in her home over many school breaks. Known to break into a spontaneous dance move or two on many occasions, Jackie also had an infectious smile and laugh that she readily shared with those around her, making everyone feel like a long time friend.
