Doris Elaine Hewitt, 79, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.
She was born Oct. 14, 1934, in Sour Lake, Texas, to George and Adeline Townsend.
Doris graduated in 1953 from Lincoln High School in Michigan, and married David L. Hewitt on Aug. 15, 1953. She grew up with three brothers and a sister, Barbra Autry, Ken Townsend, Dan Townsend and John Perish. Doris also cherished her brother- and sisters-in-law, Bill Hewitt, Betty Hewitt and Charlene Shaw.
The people who were blessed with enjoying time with her know that spending time with and caring for her family was most important to her, but she also enjoyed gardening, cooking and square-dancing. Doris was blessed with a grand family full of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, uncles and aunts. She will be greatly missed by all of her family.
Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, David L. Hewitt; their children, David A. Hewitt and Eric D. (Roxanne) Hewitt; grandchildren, Nathan Hewitt, Brandon Hewitt, Jessica Hewitt and Candence Owen; as well as other extended family and friends.
