Kenneth R. Johnson

Kenneth R. Johnson, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.

He was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Portland, Maine, and moved to this area in 1989 from Standish, Maine.

Mr. Johnson was retired from the U.S. Air Force; after retirement he worked for Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. After moving to Port Charlotte, he worked for Ace Hardware in North Port, Fla. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Maine, and a former member of the Moose. Mr. Johnson attended San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna; daughter, Bambi Isbester of Littleton, Colo.; granddaughter, Michelle Isbester, who attends the U.S. Air Force Academy; sister, Judith A. Olsen of Port Charlotte and Windham, Maine; cousin, Patricia Powell of Portland; and several nieces and nephews in Maine.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Johnson’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 992 Tamiami Trail, Suite C-2, Port Charlotte, FL 33953.

Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte.
