Yvonne C. (nee LaBossierre) Cunningham, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, in Punta Gorda, Fla.

She was born and raised in Marlborough, Mass., the daughter of Alexander LaBossierre and Anna (nee Bousquet) LaBossiere.

Following her high school graduation, she began a lifelong career in restaurant management, first with New Hampshire’s Hanover Inn, then with the Abner Wheeler House in Framingham, Mass., and finally with the Fort Hill Club in Boston, Mass. In the late 1980s, she and her husband Don relocated from Gloucester, Mass., to Punta Gorda, where they greatly enjoyed their retired years.

Yvonne was a volunteer at the Punta Gorda Civic Association, an avid bridge player, and an active member of the Elks Club in Punta Gorda. She loved spending time with friends and family, and her delightful sense of humor always brought laughter and fun to any occasion. Yvonne will be sorely missed.

She is survived by stepdaughters, Robin Comer of Rockport, Mass., and Linda Cunningham (Peter) Mercurio; two beautiful grandchildren, Emily and Abbie Mercurio of Gloucester; siblings, Claire Gainley and Roy LaBossiere of Florida, and Phyllis Atchue of Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Cunningham; several siblings; and stepson, Scott Cunningham.

There will be a gathering to celebrate Yvonne’s life in January 2014 at the Elks Club in Punta Gorda.
