David Arthur Adams, 70, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, of cancer.
He was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Bangor, Maine, the son of George and Mary Adams.
David attended Brewer High School and U.S. Navy School. While in the Navy, he served two tours to Vietnam, one was with the Korean Marines. David received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales College in Providence, R.I., graduating in 1978. He was a postal carrier with the USPS, serving 33 years and retiring in 1999.
David and his wife Diann lived in Orrington, Maine, for 10 years, then moved to Punta Gorda in 2004. He enjoyed sailing the coast of Maine. David loved to play the guitar with his friends from Alligator Park in Punta Gorda, and enjoyed gatherings with his friends and wonderful neighbors there.
David will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 22 years, Diann Costain Adams of Punta Gorda; daughter, Kim Adams Boling of Port Charlotte, Fla.; stepsons, Ronald and Wayne Adams, both of Warwick, R.I., and Charles D. Petty of Port Charlotte; stepdaughter, Carla Lynch of St. Albans, Maine; sisters, Dorothy Nelligan, Louise (Richard) Bissell and Nellie Hamm, all of Holden, Maine; brothers, George (Joyce) Adams of Dedham, Maine, Fred Adams of California, and Joseph (Carol) Adams of Corinth, Maine; grandchildren, Joseph and Timothy Boling; and eight step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Alice Sherman, Margaret Loper, Mary Eileen Patterson and Pauline Mercier; and three brothers, John, William and Robert Adams.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Hart Cemetery in Holden.
Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte.
