Henry Rankin, 93 of Port Charlotte, Fla., died at Hospice House of Englewood, Fla., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.
He was born March 31, 1920, in Huntingdon, Pa., to Marshall Rankin and Elsie Foor Rankin.
Henry came to Englewood, from Bishopville, Md., in 1998, and then to Port Charlotte. He was an insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance Company for 36 years before his retirement in 1991. Henry was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Betty of Port Charlotte; two sons, James (Patricia) Rankin of Gaithersburg, Md., and Richard “Jerry” (Terry) Rankin of Lovettsville, Va.; his daughter, Joanne Campbell of Frederick, Md.; two step-daughters, Donna Markl of Hamburg, Germany and Joyce Stempa of Woodbridge, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952, with Military Honors.
