Montrose L. Brown, 81, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Bayfront Health Port Charlotte.
He was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Jamaica, West Indies, to Noel and Kathleen Brown, and moved to Port Charlotte in 1995 from Chicago, Ill.
Montrose was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte for 18 years. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, and forever will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Montrose is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Louise; three sons, Michael, Winston and Alfred Brown, all of Chicago; five daughters, Carol Coleman, Patsy Holness and Hyacinth Gowie, all of Chicago, Sharon Brown of Jamaica, and Dorrel Brown of Sarasota, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte, 20035 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte “Faithful Fund,” 20035 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memorial book and extend condolences to the family.
