Robert G. Weigner Sr.

Robert G. Weigner Sr., 88, formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday Jan. 14, 2014, at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, Fla.

He was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Oreland, Pa.

Robert was a World War II Navy veteran, and graduated from Penn State University. He and his wife raised their family on a small farm in Sellersville, Pa. He enjoyed bowling, fighting, hunting and outdoor activities. They were active members of First Baptist Church of Perkasie, Pa. After retiring from CIGNA as a Systems Design Analyst, Robert and Eleanor moved to Port Charlotte in 1993. Robert was a deacon, treasurer and choir member at Victory Baptist Church.

He is survived by a sister, Florence; sons, Robert Jr. (Debra), Mark (Suzanne) and James (Judy); daughter, Karen (Ray) Myers; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eleanor; four sisters; three brothers; and a great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Victory Baptist Church, 1538 Nash Terrace, Port Charlotte, FL 33953. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church; or the Gideon Bible Society at www.gideons.org.
