Paul Chayka

Paul Chayka, 56, of Port Charlotte, Fla., went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, in Tampa, Fla.

He was born July 7, 1957, in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y., to Paul and Verna Chayka.

Paul attended Eastern Military Academy on Long Island, and Sanford Naval Academy in Sanford, Fla. He spent 10 years in the U.S. Army. Paul owned and operated ASAP Maintenance in Helen, Ga., and was a volunteer firefighter there. He enjoyed scuba diving and metal detecting. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Jeanette “Bunny” Chayka. Paul was preceded in death by his twin sisters, Paulette and Patricia.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Paul is now with the Lord; may he rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s honor may be made to the First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte Faithful Fund.
