Florence Iona Schloss, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Signature Healthcare of Port Charlotte.
She was born March 8, 1924, in Point Hill, St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies.
Florence moved to Port Charlotte in 1988 from Hartford, Conn. She was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Mount Sinai in Hartford, Conn., where she worked for many years, assisting those with medical needs. Florence was a member of St. James Episcopal Church for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and will always be remembered by all who loved and knew her.
Florence is survived by, and leaves to mourn her loss, her loving daughters, Claudette Smith of London, Ontario, Canada, and Beverly (Carlton) Grant of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; son, Ramsay Schloss of Bronx, N.Y.; sister, Vera Taylor of Hartford; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Travers; and daughter, Sean.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at St. James Episcopal Church, 1365 Viscaya Drive, Port Charlotte. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
