Angeline E. “Angie” Palazzolo, 89, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

She was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Birmingham, Ala., to Vincent and Angelina Cera.

Angie spent her formative years in Alabama, and moved to Michigan as a preteen, where she completed school and supported the war effort. She married her high school sweetheart and war hero, Salvatore “Sal,” and raised six children. She and Sal moved to Florida to spend their retirement years, where they were active in both their Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish, as well as the community.

Angie is survived by her children and their significant others, Katherine, Angela, Gerald, Diane, Celia and Celeste; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as two older brothers, Anthony and Joseph Cera, and their wives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sal, in 2006.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Friday, March 21, 2014, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated following at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, with burial to follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
