Eleanor “Elly” (nee Casella) Santore, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla., peacefully passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Tidewell Hospice.
She was born in Bloomington, Ill.
Eleanor moved to Brooklyn, N.Y.; raised her family in Oceanside, N.Y.; then, in 1982, made her final move to Port Charlotte. Elly was an avid artist, gardener and writer of poetry. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and lived vicariously through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Adrienne) Santore of North Port, Fla.; daughter, Linda (Bernie) Rowan of Port Charlotte; granddaughters, Suzanne (Gary) Hilton of Port Charlotte, and Claudine (Tony) Martin of Stafford, Va.; and great-grandchildren, Edward, Alexis, Billie, Ava, Mitchell and Connor.
A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. A Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, followed by a burial service at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Fla.
