Stuart H. Rickett, 92, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday March 22, 2014.
He was born in De Peyster, N.Y., the son of Stanley and Inez Rickett.
Stuart was one of five boys. He marred Betty Sloan on Sept. 26, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., prior to his deployment to the South Pacific during World War II. Stuart worked for CLF Corporation, which later became Agway Inc., from 1941 until 1983. His work years were interrupted by three years of military service in the South Pacific, serving in the U.S. Army. Stuart was active in local politics, and belonged to several service clubs. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, baseball and golf. Always a gentleman, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Betty; sons, Dr. Stuart H. (Tina) Rickett Jr. and William B. (Suzanne) Rickett; and daughter, Vicki Marie (Dr. Glen) Joshpe. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Stuart’s life will be held at noon Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Queensway Center, 2100 Kings Highway, Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maple Leaf Corporation, Attention: either Maple Leaf Fire Club or Maple Leaf Garden Club, 2100 Kings Highway, Port Charlotte, FL 33980.
