Joseph A. Tupko, 71, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, after a long illness with his loving family by his side.

He was born March 5, 1943.

Joseph was formerly employed by Amtrak railroad where he worked for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and walking the West Haven Boardwalk and going for coffee with friends. Joseph was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed by everyone that loved and knew him.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 49 years, Patricia; son, Joseph (fiancé Laura Moccaie) Tupko Jr. of East Haven, Conn.; daughter, Dawn (Brian) Bartholomew of Punta Gorda, Fla.; four beautiful granddaughters, Alicia, Amanda, Megan and Brittany; sisters, Linda Arendt of Milford, Conn., and Sandra Apuzzo of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Pepper. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Sophie (nee Bruning); and father, Joseph I. Tupko

A Celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
