Jeanette W. Fennell, 89, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at her home, with her daughter, Sue, by her side.

She was born April 24, 1924, in Waterloo, N.Y., the daughter of Henry R. and Iva Smith Wixom.

Jeanette was a secretary for the Waterloo School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, the American Legion Post 435 Auxiliary in Waterloo for 50-plus years, and for 45-plus years had enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Susan (Peter) Vacca of Punta Gorda; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wixom of Waterloo; grandchildren, Matthew (Cassandra) Vacca and Alia Vacca; great-granddaughter, Madison Vacca; and her devoted caregiver for over two years, Maria Ramsey. She was preceded in death by husband, Norbert Paul Fennell, whom she married in 1947; son, James Fennell; and brother, Charles Wixom.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Mull Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo.
