Jeffrey Craig (Bo) Butler, 67, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
Bo was born on November 19, 1946, to John (Jack) and Katy (nee Downes) Butler in Hackensack, New Jersey.
He graduated from Hoover High in North Canton, Ohio, in 1964. Bo served as a corpsman with the First Marine Division in Vietnam. He retired from the Navy in 1986 and moved to Port Charlotte in 1989.
Bo was always smiling and happy. He loved spending time with his family and swimming with his grandchildren. He was a loyal friend. People knew him as a great storyteller who made friends wherever he went. He was an enthusiastic collector of comic books, coins, pewter, model cars and Tinker Bell memorabilia. He loved his cats and watching classic movies.
Bo will be greatly missed by his wife, Denise; children Tammy Kerner, Dan Butler, Jessica (Michael) Nixon, Nathan (Leah) Clark and Sarah (David) Musgrove; grandchildren Katy Kerner, Connor and Ella Nixon, Nathan, Haley and Fischer Clark and Aiden and Davis Musgrove.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara.
Visitation will be at 4:00 on Tuesday, May 6, at Lighthouse Baptist Church (14251 Chancellor Blvd., Port Charlotte). A service officiated by Pastor Sheffield will begin at 4:30. Friends may visit with the family after the service. Burial will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
