Lorraine F. Velek, 95, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014.

She was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Chicago, Ill.

Lorraine and her husband Edward, now deceased, owned the Candlelight Inn Little Village in Chicago. She also sold cosmetics. Lorraine was a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also could write the most beautiful letters, as if they were poems.

Lorraine is survived by her friend of a lifetime, Jesse Hungerford; nephews, Edward (Dawn) and Robert (Diane) Ruley, both of Punta Gorda; great-nephew, Robert Ruly Jr.; great-niece, Suzanne Ruly-Bard; and four great-great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Velek; and brother, Edward Ruley.

Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.
