Diane Nelson

Diane Nelson, 60, passed away suddenly Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

She was born Sept. 30, 1953, in Chelsea, Mass., and grew up in Saugus, Mass.

After high school she went to work as an operator for the New England Telephone Company. Diane worked for many years as an Operator, Engineering Clerk and Secretary. After retiring she was a Financial Administrator for the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was very active in Pioneering, and a past Chapter President organizing and coordinating many conferences and conventions. Diane gave unselfishly of herself as secretary and a member of the Pigeon Cove Boat Owners Association during the fight for Pigeon Cove Harbor.

Diane was a loving wife to Carl “Fred” Nelson; devoted daughter of Darlene Whittredge; and sister to Dave (Bonnie) Whittredge of Saugus, and Debra (Kenneth) Trepasso of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She also leaves nieces, Shannon Shaw of Saugus, and Tiffany Trepasso of Palm Beach Gardens; nephews, Jason Whittredge of Saugus, and Kenneth and Christopher Trepasso of Palm Beach Gardens; stepsons, Mark (Cynthia) Nelson of Reading, Mass., and Christopher (Judith) Nelson of Rockport, Mass.; grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole and Michael Nelson of Reading, and Courtney and Kyle Nelson of Rockport; sister-in-law, Joan Douglass of Fort Pierce, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan Nelson of Mancos, Colo.; and very close friends, Pat Frankum of Vincennes, Ind., Linda Morris of Rockport, Lyn LaFlamme of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Theresa “Terri” Sims of Punta Gorda. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Nelson “Dave” Whittredge.

Diane will be greatly missed by everyone she knew and touched.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
