Sylvia L. Arnott, 89, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
She was born May 29, 1925, in New York, N.Y., to William B. and Mary E. Arnott, and moved to Florida in 1987 from there.
Sylvia retired as a registered nurse at Bellevue Hospital in New York after 36 years of service. She was a member of the Woman’s Coalition, Daughters of the King, Chi Eta Phi Sorority and Omega Eta Chapter Inc., all of Port Charlotte. Sylvia was a wonderful, caring and compassionate woman who will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Yvonne M. (Fitzroy) Edwards of Elmont, N.Y.; a sister, Amy Nembhard of Jamaica, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. James Episcopal Church, 1365 Viscaya Drive, Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
