A stolen barbecue smoker has been recovered, and the suspected thief was apprehended while hiding in an air-conditioning duct, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report.
DeSoto County resident Doug Tanner reported that a homemade barbecue/smoker attached to a trailer, valued at $3,000, had been stolen from his property sometime Feb. 13 or 14. When DeSoto County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating the theft, they located a man who told them he had just purchased a smoker on a trailer for $450 from Mathew Scott Flores, whom he has known for several years, according to the DCSO. Flores reportedly had told the man he was out of work and needed money. Flores, 26, lists an address on the 200 block of East Imogene Street, Arcadia.
