CHARLOTTE COUNTY — A judge has set bond at $2.25 million for a local man arrested Thursday for allegedly having sex — and performing other sex acts — with a girl who was 6 or 7 years old.

Jose Ramon Almodovar-Chaparro, 36, of Port Charlotte, has been charged with three counts of capital sexual battery. Charlotte County Judge John Burns set the defendant’s bond at $750,000 for each count during a first appearance hearing Friday at the Charlotte County Justice Center in Punta Gorda.
