ENGLEWOOD — An Indiana man has been accused of boating under the influence on the waters in the Cape Haze area late Saturday after marine deputies found him at the helm of a vessel with a Bud Light in his hand, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. There was only one passenger with him, and authorities say they found 17 empty Bud Light cans aboard.
Matthew Caleb Sutter, 35, of West Lafayette, Ind., was stopped just before midnight Saturday because the 17-foot recreational boat he was operating didn’t have its navigation lights on. Sutter said he and his friend were fishing, so marine deputies requested to check his cooler for “fisheries enforcement purposes,” the report shows. That’s when deputies reportedly found most of the empty beer cans.
