SARASOTA — Over the first few weeks of the season, the North Port High School boys basketball team has made a habit of getting out to fast starts and putting opponents away.

That wasn’t the case in Thursday night’s game against a Riverview team that featured high-flying sophomore Malachi Wideman — and North Port head coach Ryan Power could tell you why his team was a little off in a 74-62 loss on “Silent Night” in the Ram Gym.
