PORT CHARLOTTE — Even though the Port Charlotte baseball team limped out to a 1-8 start to the season, coach Rodney Taylor said his team never let the losing get to their heads.

With a 6-0 win over North Port on Thursday and then an 11-1 mercy-rule win over the Bobcats in five innings on Friday at Port Charlotte High School, the Pirates have played their way out of their funk, at least for now.
