VENICE — The Championship game of the Sarasota Baseball Classic turned into a classic pitchers duel Thursday night as Charlotte defeated Venice, 1-0, to take the title on the Indians home field.

The Tarpons Cade Reich and the Indians Chase Latchford both went the distance, but the run the Tarpons scored in the bottom of the first inning turned out to be enough for Charlotte to beat their district rivals and capture the championship.
