PORT CHARLOTTE — The Port Charlotte High School’s girls soccer team got off to a fast start and hung on for a 3-2 victory over North Port in the season-opener for both teams Tuesday night.
Senior midfielder Karen Arzu scored two goals in the first half to give the Pirates a 2-0 advantage at halftime in the District 4A-11 match. Arzu took a pass from McKenna Sultan and fired it in from 10 yards out with 10 minutes left in the first half. Six minutes later, Arzu again scored off an assist by junior Michelle Atherly.
