Ramos settles in

PORT CHARLOTTE — Relievers usually don’t throw bullpen sessions during spring training because they generally pitch every three days. So when the Tampa Bay Rays told Cesar Ramos that he was scheduled to throw a bullpen between his first and second appearances of the spring, he knew he was in the mix for the fifth starter job.

On Wednesday, the former reliever made his first start in spring training, giving up two runs on four hits over 22⁄3 innings in the Rays’ 5-4 win over the New York Yankees at Charlotte Sports Park.
